Megathread: Jeff Sessions recuses himself from all Trump campaign-related investigations

In other words you aren't going to answer the question, and are resorting to deflection and insults because that's all you know how to do. Trumpians have become utterly immune to logic, so insulated by lies and spin and mindless tribalism that Trump could stand in the middle of the street and shoot someone and you'd still support him - and he knows it. Because he is not a public servant or a policy expert, he is a showman. He works the crowd, tells them what they want to hear, feeds their fears and ego and ignorant zealotry, and rides the wave.

The fact that working class Americans thought a super-rich NYC brand mogul would act in their interests is a demonstration of this country's education gap, and how easily empty populism and scapegoating can gain momentum. It was the ultimate postmodern election - we live in a sensationalized overblown reality TV culture that is hostile to boring old facts, so that's what we elected.

For people who actually follow political history and events and maintain a basic awareness of reality, the difference between a Barack Obama and a Donald Trump is night and day. Obama was not someone I always liked, but he was dedicated to public policy and the ideals of this country. His career has revolved around public policy and community action, and he is very well-educated on law, policy, and history.

By contrast, Trump is a billionaire narcissist celebrity, who has been given countless chances and blown them all. He not only lacks the requisite capabilities to hold this office, he is volatile, despotic, weak, inexperienced, and has terrible judgment. He cares more about what Fox News has to say than his intelligence advisors. He thinks the free press and the Democratic Party are bigger threats than Russia and far-right nationalism. But why am I telling you? You probably agree with him.

Obama ran a good campaign based on hope and potential. He manipulated, sure - all communication is a manipulation of sorts. But he also had specific policies that worked and resonated for the widest swath of voters. His naïveté was in thinking republican legislators were going to work with him. Democrats biggest weakness is their faith in the system, while Republicans will happily tear the system down if it gives them more control. The test now will be whether democrats and regular citizens have the balls to actively enforce democracy and reject bullshit xenophobic policies, attacks on the first amendment, hyper-capitalism, and the red flags of avoiding transparency around known and potential corruption.

As far as people like you go, no one cares what you do. You can keep cheerleading for Trump and digging your heels into the wrong side of history - it won't change anything. You don't matter. The people who change things are the ones who stand up for democracy, liberty, accountability, progress, and basic humanity.
