Melinda gates just committed $1 billion to gender equality. How does money help a cause like that?

But you can’t discount that even though the philosophy behind it is somewhat icky, donations like this DO help a lot of people.

My husband works for a non-profit that houses and employs the disabled homeless. He constantly looks for and studies programs like this, because without these grants, organizations like his couldn’t do much in just private/federal donations.

Sure, the system is broken and should be changed. But just because it’s problematic doesn’t mean we can look a gift horse in the mouth and cut off aid that can help people.

You just acknowledge what it is and use the money to help people as much as you can to make a better life and be safe.
