Memphis passes a new tax. The tax applies to Memphis and will only be paid in Memphis, but the County wants “its fair share”. If they want more money, have a vote, get a tax and pay that tax.

Actually, you bring up a good point. “Caveman” is much more apt. You barged in with a big stick yelling “Tennessee good, sales tax good, income tax bad! You move away!”

I love Memphis. And I voted for the sales tax increase, because I work daily with first responders and I know what it means to them. But in general, regressive taxes are not favorable to progressive taxes. And Tennessee is not, overall, doing well. We are routinely at the bottom of national lists. And surprise surprise, the state has been led chronically by conservative politicians.

And you can go to hell with your suggestions that I move away. I was born and raised here and I literally work every day in an ER to improve the lives of others. Maybe if TN would try out some “progressive tax policies” we might see some gains in our healthcare system and education.
