Men 50+, what are some self-care habits you wish you started earlier?

fair enough--I just know people (my dad) who will refuse to go to PT but will continually go to the chiropractor.
Drives me nuts. We argued about it:
"I tried physical therapy and it didn't work. I'll stick with the chiropractor."
"Did you do the exercises the PT gave you like they told you to?"
"I did them for a bit."
"So, no. You have to actually do the stuff or, yeah, it won't work."

He still won't go. He still complains about his back all the time but I've given up on that fight with him--just try to make sure other people are aware.
It doesn't fit his personality--he's a hard working, Type A sort of person in most ways but, dear god, with his health stuff he wants a pill/quick fix or nothing.
And, even if they give him that...he often won't do as he's been told for no explicable reason and, again, will say, "It didn't work".
In my mid 30's and the man still drives me nuts.
Congrats on you weight loss, by the way. That's no small achievement and way too many decide it's easier to just accept the weight as their new status quo.
I've gained and lost a bit before (~50 lbs) and I don't see how people can carry so much more. With just that fairly small amount of extra I had issues--knees and back hurt more...hell, almost everything hurt more.
