'Men are visual creatures' is a meaningless phrase.

I think beyond a gender thing, it's a personality thing ... I truly go for personality over looks. That isn't to say I am immune to looks but that it doesn't really impact me too strongly, the full package, even in momentary interactions matters. Like someone can be conventionally attractive but really not a good vibe (for me personally) and that can take them from not bad to never ever.

I think you'll find this isn't a gender thing so much as a personality thing and likely has a lot to do with a person's level of preference for unattached amorousness. If someone is primarily thinking in terms of short-term stuff I don't think they are really considering too deeply qualities beyond appearance. I'm very monogamous so like I process these things differently and a lot of people are just never ever despite being conventionally attractive.
