I actually get somewhat insulted when women do this, because 99% of the time I am not hitting on them. Even working as a clerk, i am just doing my job, dont get ahead of yourself.

Its kind of a “fuck off” thing for a girl to do based on one GIANT assumption, which is that we are hitting on you or flirting.

Oddly enough, I’ve done this as a male, and brought up “my girlfriend .... etc stories”. Then those women would flirt even more/exchange numbers (referring to a college class).

Thinking about it, almost every girl in my last semester pulled out the “my husband/my boyfriend” on me. I was never hitting on them. I am not creepy/pervy/macho douchey. Was simply discussing design concepts.

Humans talk to humans, its not always predatory flirting. Fuck. If you mention your bf like this it is a fuck you/ stop talking to me forever sort of thing, because that is your intention. its like telling the male that theyve crossed some sacred line and you have to pull out your grand finale, “stop creeping on me” move. But if they arent flirting with you remotely you like an presumptive you know what.

We all know the ends and out of this one, we have all done it from either side. Use only when necessary.
