Eh. I’m a teacher. I’m even less appreciated by society and make a fraction of a cops income. Is it hard for me to want to do my job because so many kids have parents who probably shouldn’t have had kids in the first place, and the general public is straight up stupid? Yes it is. But I’m a good teacher. Good teachers will do their job. I don’t have time for a “discouraged” cop who is allotted a hell of a lot more resources to do their job than I am. Now resistance to an institution deeply entrenched in racism, should not discourage a good cop. For they too, should have joined the force to protect and serve - including protecting the public from bad cops. A truly good cop would be discouraged by the actions of bad cops, not public resistance to brutality. The issue is these cops aren’t joining the force with these motives. They just want to exert power over people. It’s really not that complicated
