Men of Reddit with an active lifestyle, how did you overcome your old sedetary life?

I was in really bad physical shape from enjoying too many of the excesses in life, because for many years when I was younger, I was so poor, that I when started making big money: I went nuts with it for half a decade

Then the day came where I would just look at myself in the mirror and say: Seriously? What have you done to yourself? Are you actually happy living like this?

The answer was a resounding “NO” and I began my new focus of hitting the gym 5 days a week, changing my diet around, stopped drinking and going out all night, and started refocusing my energy into things that I felt were beneficial to my personal growth - and dropped all the things that weren’t

Now I focus much more on the things I love: cooking, reading, swimming in the ocean for a few hours every week, learning a new language, much more travel and exploration, and just becoming more self reliant and self disciplined.

This has been ongoing for over a year+ now, and I am in much better shape both physically and emotionally. If I can sustain it: I will never go back to the old me.
