Men who began learning an activity as an adult that most people begin as kids (sports, theatre etc) and turned it into a serious hobby/career. How did you do it?

Youtube is a godsend. . . or at least the creators posting on it are.

Drumming - I worked off of youtube until I could play any standard 4/4 song you hear on the radio. Now I have jam sessions with random people I meet that also love music.

Spanish - I studied on youtube and duolingo to be conversational. I then bought and trained my dog to receive commands in Spanish. I also listen to podcasts and movies in Spanish, or go out for Mexican food more often now to keep practicing.

C++ programming - Once again, youtube. Also many other sites recommended by multiple subreddits like /r/cpp and /r/learnprogramming. This is my current topic to study. The goal I set for myself is creating a simple scroller video game. Think about a very shitty version of Super Mario Brothers, lol and ironically that's my end goal.

Use this Coronavirus lock-down to your benefit. Study something that is marketable professionally. Or study something that makes you a better and more interesting you. There are so many free tutorials out there. Just start googling what you enjoy learning about and dive in.
