Menindee - High Water, acrylic on canvas, 60cm x 90cm.

I think your reflections, including the trees in the reflected pools, are very successful and exciting. I particularly like the yellow against the wonderful rich blue and your use of differing brushstrokes to convey water. I also love how sketchy the reflected trees are. If I crop out the sky, rotate the painting upside down, and squint to ignore the black trees, I see a lot of promise: I see intuition, skilled illusion of depth, and freedom of expression.

Meanwhile, the rest of the painting is not quite as strong. It looks like someone who is trying to paint somewhat realistically but hasn't yet developed the technique or the freedom of expression to really nail it--which is fine, you just perhaps need to loosen up a bit more like you have in the watery areas, or study more master paintings and practice your drawing skills.

I also get the feeling you were really looking at references of trees while you were painting this: the branches on the above-water trees look too perfected spaced and regular. Be careful not to let your brain make things into patterns--I often run into the same temptation with branches.
