This mental health fad needs to stop.

I agree to an extent. I have GAD (generalised anxiety disorder, I am medically diagnosed by my psychologist and take antidepressants prescribed by my psychiatrist), however I try not to use my illness as a crutch, and get annoyed when people think I can’t do things due to anxiety. (For example, I am confident in front of a crowd. It’s something I’ve gained more confidence towards and worked on.) I do have trouble doing tests due to anxiety and try to get required special provisions when I can and give it a go, but mental illness is not an excuse to be babied or bludge. I hate being treated like a porcelain doll, I’ve overcome so much and become so much stronger and I have learned to cope. I go to school, I do my work, and even though I do get lazy and have bad mental health days (being lazy is not the same as being depressed) I know that I have the ability to improve. I have a feeling that a lot of these people are not truly mentally ill and are looking for excuses, and that angers me.
