So I’ve been thinking that the USA should have mandatory gun handling courses for 18 year olds with AR-15s. Upon completion of a rigorous marksmanship test, they will get to keep the AR-15 and a few Beta C-Mags because, hey, we shouldn’t discriminate and the 2A shall not be infringed. The more good guys with guns, the more polite society will be.

The real benefit comes from the accuracy regimen. Should they decide to become law enforcers they’ll be more accurate and less likely to hit bystanders but also should some happen to go on a public rampage, there’ll be less suffering because of cleaner kills from better shooting and grouping. Triaging large caliber bullet wounds is quite a task and are likely to leave survivors with lifelong pain and injury and no one wants that.

This could be a new era in gun fetishization and consumerism for the gun industry. With the uptick in zeal gun manufacturers might be able to get around to implementing smart locks and putting gun ads on traditionally children’s tv networks. What do you think?
