Messed around in FL for ages. Craving a novation Launchpad MK2.

honestly dude most people buy clip launchers, fuck with them for a few weeks, try to make them work as a Traktor supplement, and then eventually switch to traktor or CDJs or whatever.

they are really cool, and i love them. but the number of people who actually use clip launchers and perform live throughout my time in music are few and far between.

if you have dreams of live performance then yes, definitely make the switch, but if you're looking for a midi controller for either sampling, glitching, sequencing, or a drum machine then invest in an MPD or MPC or even a Maschine. When the APC40 first came out i had a ton of friends who bought it, never used it, and then sold it 3 months later. same with the push.

in a production setting a clip launcher only makes sense if you are doing live production. in a DJ setting the midi controller and ableton setup is extremely fickle and most people learn fast that its not the smartest option for a club gig.

but, when i first started producing 9 years ago my big dream was to do a live set, like deadmau5 or richie hawtin or justice. all original music, produced live by me. after a lot of hard work i finally realized that dream. shoot for the stars dude, its fun, amazing, and it injects this human element into producing that ive been missing since i switched from playing in rock bands. i find way that i cant open up my live set because if i do i cant tear myself away. so best of luck to you in your endeavors. and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me, i love to teach!

so man, who do you want to be? why do you want a launchpad? what is your creative end goal? the answers to those questions can save you time, money, and even better help you come into your identity as a musician.
