[META] Comic creators should be allowed to link directly to their websites instead of being forced to reupload their strips to Imgur. This subreddit has been built on original content, and its overly restrictive self promotion policies are hurting the artists who are making us that content

If you don't understand the 101 issues involved with Reddit moderation, read the FAQ I already linked for you. Then try being a mod of a sub with a specific content scope and a subscriber count over 20K. You're not going to understand moderation by playing armchair activist.

You probably could've given me a couple sentence idea of what you're going through if you wanted me to understand. If you value your time so much, why are you playing games?

At this point I'm beginning to believe you're a troll.

No you're not. I've been very clear about my intentions and every reason for my actions. Again, I hope you're enjoying some part of this, because your messages aren't very useful if you want any real discourse or closure.

A post like this does nothing in the long term. In the short term it just gives this sub's moderation an undeserved bad name.

I've admitted to the problems my post could've caused and I won't pretend that it hasn't done any damage, but you should put effort into being fair to me too. What percentage of reddit users submit content, what percentage of those submit their own content, and what percentage of that has encountered mods using the self promotion guidelines against them? A tiny fraction of reddit is aware firsthand of how the 10% rule is being used to combat spam and the issues it causes, and now a whole lot more people know too.

If the mods of an artist subreddit want a rule that actually does require all submissions must be made to Imgur, it would be 100% fine.

The issue I brought up is about spam prevention and how it affects content creators. Your comments have indicated a few times to me now that you haven't really read my original post or its edit. You could've saved yourself a lot of time if you got past reading the title.

If you want to change mods to be more supportive of artists, become one, and promote better moderation by example

That's ridiculous. Big changes are made by making subreddit communities aware of issues and giving them a forum to voice their opinions. You must've seen, and probably have been involved with multiple subreddit overhauls pushed for by their communities. Are you really trying to pretend that awareness and calls to action get nothing done? I know your perspective is skewed by being a mod, and your job would be easier with a friendly and gradual change, but who are you trying to kid here? It's just you and me.
