[Meta] Hey Mods are we Going Dark?

I know I'm super late responding to this, but I'd just like to throw in my thoughts to anyone reading this, in case it influences some upcoming riot on this sub or something that's, in all fairness, probably unlikely:

There's absolutely nothing objectively wrong with considering what's best for yourself and those you care about in life. It becomes unhealthy when you don't consider anyone but yourself or how what happens to those you aren't connected to also affects you and those you care about

I think there's a strong argument to be made that the immediate effects of shutting down this sub on the tboi community is more detrimental to this community than the likelihood that going dark will affect reddit as a whole substantially enough to trickle back down to this sub.

Again, that might sound dickish to reddit or something, but the mods don't have just a responsibility to reddit and this sub, they have a responsibility to the tboi community, and considering that community in the decision is not somehow objectively bad.

You're probably right that a vote would be nice for everyone's peace of mind, if only to not give everyone the feeling that they have no say in the community, but the logistics of a vote should probably be considered beyond "if 51% of voters want it dark, we go dark". I would guess a substantial portion of the tboi community that frequents this sub likely won't be represented by such a vote, and those that do vote may not be a representative split between those that are redditors and those that are tboi community members only. This representative issue only expands when we consider the question: "How long do we go dark?"

I know it's a terrible thing to willingly give up one's rights, but it's exactly the job of a moderator to enforce rules and make decisions that, logistically, cannot be made democratically.

Again, there are obviously benefits to going dark and to calling a vote, but I think it's not clear cut which decision is the correct one, and while I would assume most everyone's, and specifically your, opinion is not only a valid opinion, but a strong one, I'd just like to put out a my, perhaps, overly conservative thoughts to give another perspective on the issue.
