The Meta Show - Disappointing

i want to point out that i gave you kudos for apologizing for your own actions and for things said on the show, but i think many of us who tuned in to watch this episode (or at least myself, i dunno) were expecting to hear some sort of acceptance of responsibility from Imperium leadership.

Like, you apologized for your part, and then the narrative shifted immediately to "you all should look in the mirror" and then "ok let's move forward this is how things are going to change"

Accountability and condemnation HAVE to come first, before anything else. Period. Otherwise, it just feels hollow and doesn't inspire people with confidence that anything will actually improve, because it doesn't really feel like anyone from Imperium leadership has learned any lessons here. At least in some ways. All of these next steps that you all are implementing only work if there's buy-in from those responsible for enforcing them. And if you can't start the conversation off with a condemnation and address the facts of the timeline in a transparent way, how can anyone have any confidence that anyone has learned anything here? like, you don't even have to dive into specifics

Imagine if you/merkel had started the stream off with something like this:

"something something what Mittens did was awful, and we, the Imperium, let so many of our members and the Eve community down in so many ways. we take responsibility for that, we apologize for that. predators and harassers should not be able to find a safe haven within our ranks, and we should not punish victims for speaking out against their attackers - this should be a safe space for this community to hang out and play video games." then jump into your "hold up the mirror" bit and talk about how the RL harassment of Alex, yourself, and others is unacceptable, and then talk about what comes next.

Like, can you imagine how much healing could come from that?

That is what I was hoping to hear, and it was nowhere to be found. And when others tried to get you to address any of this, their messages were deleted or they were banned from chat. You said "comments are open, it's not subs only see how transparent we are", which was classic politicking since comments weren't open to anyone, or even followers.

The whole thing was gross, man. Honestly. It really was. You're better than that, I know you're better than that. u/briscrubal
