META: This sub is moving towards a value system that frequently doesn't align with the rest of the world

So I’m not exactly rollin’ in the karma, nor do I care, so with a very nuanced grain of salt I say, “This is probably going to get buried..” simply because I want the point heard-not the karma. For that reason too I’m not searching for a higher up comment to cling to, this is my take on it.

This is similar to how I feel about the whole free speech in the US thing; Sure, you have every right to say how you feel about something as long as it doesn’t incite violence or whatever-but it doesn’t mean nobody is going to NOT call you a jerk for your opinion. Same deal with AITA comments. Yeah, you don’t technically HAVE to do a lot of things that may come up, legality and morality don’t necessarily go hand in hand. Sometimes certain situations require biting the bullet and doing things you don’t like. If you choose not to do the thing that will garner peoples approval, that’s fine, however, by doing so you accept the negative feelings others with potentially have and you have to be ok with it.

If I decide to quit my job and walk out, I have every right to do that. If I were to do that though, I’d have to be perfectly fine with the natural consequences of such an action. Shitty reference for my next job, unpaid until I find a new job, screwing over coworkers who rely on me to be there to help them, etc.

Eh, that’s my two cents for what it’s worth.
