Metro Detroit still struggling to agree on regional transit plan (crosspost /r/Michigan_Politics)

I just wanted to thank you for being open minded on the issue. Anecdotal, but my girlfriend's car broke down a couple of months ago and needed an expensive replacement part. We had some money saved, but not quite enough, and she had to go a couple of weeks without a car. It was hell. A bus route goes near our house, but nowhere near her work. Bumming rides from friends and using Uber is incredibly exhausting/expensive/annoying when we could just pay a couple bucks for a bus pass - if that were possible.

Transit could directly help a lot of people in our region, especially vulnerable demographics like the poor or elderly. The rest of us with cars will still receive other benefits - some some mentioned with less traffic and a stronger economy.
