Mexico deports 33% more migrants after deal with US

Overall it’s better to have them here than not. And they can be useful even if it isn’t direct. They have community value.

Just a as personal anecdote: My grandmother immigrated here when I was born and lived with us. My dad was working full-time and my mom was working on her MBA. Having my grandmother there to help take care of me enabled them to further their careers significantly.

Now my mom makes a cool six figures working in capital investment. I would argue that’s a huge individual contribution. But...there’s no way she’d be there if she had to quit her job to raise her babies.

Furthermore, my grandmother has since developed Parkinson's disease. There’s no way my mom would have left her to rot back home in the 3rd World with Parkinson’s. So if she hadn’t immigrated here...either my mom would be sending money back home to treat her, or she would have moved back to take care of her. Either way that’s money being siphoned out of the American economy.

So overall it’s a net benefit.
