MI - My brother (33M) needs a new guardian, I want it, my mother (61F) is fighting me

I have a boy whose 9 and nonverbal (pretty severely autistic). I teared up a bit reading your post. God bless you for caring about your brother and wanting / willing to do everything you can to make sure he's happy, healthy, safe and cared for.

I hope my son's siblings turn out caring about their brother as much as you do about yours. Your mother has no idea how blessed she is to have another child willing to take responsibility for her disabled son. But she's probably worried that you might waltz in and take him away (which is understandable, too).

Sit her down and outline your plan / intention. She'll be glad you care so much and really do mean well.

Good luck !
