Miami has to withdraw from Sun Bowl because of COVID issues, bowl sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. It’s unknown if Sun Bowl can find a replacement to play Washington State, which arrived in El Paso earlier today

So this sucks (I always look forward to our bowl games because it’s a nice way to remind myself that no matter how much things may be looking up, Miami will always crush my will to be happy). But this COVID stuff is hard. My whole family (extended included) is vaxxed and boosted. We all rapid tested the morning before a big get together, everyone was negative (and gleefully shared their results on a group chat!). Most of us even did a pretty solid job of quarantining the entire week leading up to our event just in case. We spent the day together, had a great time. That same night one entire household tested positive, and about 70% of us in attendance eventually tested positive in the following days. Confirmed it was the delta strain via PCR. Was it a fluke? Maybe. But it’s an eerily similar story to those I’ve heard from a number of friends. It was also pretty damming evidence (at least to me) that a lot can change in as little as 12 hours even when you’re doing everything “right”. I won’t pretend to know the exact circumstances around what happened with our football team, but it doesn’t immediately scream malicious to me given my own experiences. Luckily for r/cfb there are still plenty of other reasons to hate Miami!
