Michael Jordan Awarded $46,000 For ‘Emotional Damages’ But Not Full Rights To His Own Name in China

Im bringing it up to provide some context into issues that affect the material conditions of regular people and those that don’t.

They’re not stealing anyone’s work. Specially not in this particular article, it’s literally just the name Michael Jordan, and not even that, it’s the Chinese phonetic sounding of the name. WHO gives a fuck.

But if you’re talking about IP in general, the Chinese ain’t stealing nobody’s work. Artists and designers sold their IP to a corporation, they already got paid. How much money the corporation loses from having that IP copied doesn’t bother me, there’s a lot more pressing issues in the world.

Shit just in the world of IP alone, US companies steal a lot more from each other than the Chinese ever could. Shit just look at patent trolling a rent seeking zero value producing form of IP stealing. It costs billions of dollars in legal fees to American, often smaller, companies.
