Michelle Yeoh-Led ‘Star Trek’ Series in Development at CBS All Access

JJ Abrams kinda ruined Star Trek. Like holy shit, the most recent movie was done by the guy who did Fast and the Furious.

Now with Discovery, all the young people scream that it's not Star Trek because it's serious, a little dark, and not "fun" like the recent Disneyfied movies. Those movies since JJ Abrams is like a whitewashed Star Trek that has been written to make no one uncomfortable. Has everyone forgotten all the backlash in the 1990s and a certain demographic of people saying that DS9 ruined Star Trek not because they had a problem with a "black captain" but because the show just "felt too dark".

I see stuff online like young people screaming that Discovery ruined Star Trek because two guys kissed or there is a female main character. Like wtf? The original few star trek series had stuff like the first prime time tv show with a multicultural multiracial cast, first interaction kiss on primetime tv, and anyone who watched it at the time would have recognized all the political commentary about Vietnam/Cold-war issues. Seriously, has everyone forgotten that the plots in StarTrek has traditionally addressed controversial issues in current society and pushed the limits in ways that people found a little uncomfortable.

Heck I know people who back in the 1990s told me they stopped watching TNG after that episode called "The Outcast)".
