Microsoft faces EU antitrust warning over Activision deal - sources

Microsoft is paying for timed or permanent console-exclusive Xbox releases (and next-gen updates), too, as is Nintendo. They all do this, and it's not a practice I feel is consumer-friendly, no matter who does it.

Microsoft won't release future Bethesda games on PlayStation (in spite of "intending" differently before the Zenimax deal was approved), even though Bethesda games were always on PlayStation. This would be like Sony buying SE or EA and never releasing these publisher's franchises on Xbox anymore (but everywhere else).

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony bought a bigger publisher if the Activision deal goes through, though I think their strategy of acquiring individual studios they have worked with for years is working well for them. Sony's first party game output is pretty good. Nintendo's strategy is similar, and it works for them, too.

Microsoft will promise and say whatever it takes to get this deal approved. Which is what they need to do, so no hard feelings, but to me it's very obvious what the purpose is. It's not exactly subtle.
