Microsoft is talking about their next Xbox console. Have they done enough for the Xbox One to convince you to upgrade?

Maybe I'm the only one, but I think microsoft has done pretty well by me in terms of games for xbox one.

I bought mine in 2015 for $350 and it came with the abortion that was the Master Chief Collection. Despite that game's piss-poor multiplayer, I still had fun with it because it had Husky Raid as a playlist (BRING BACK HUSKY RAID 343 PLZ), and the campaign worked well for the most part. Still a negative experience overall.

But then they started giving away games for free with my xbox live subscription, and for that $50/year i felt like I really got my money's worth. I got the assassins creed pirate game, which was GREAT, and quite a few others (can't remember them all) that I had a lot of fun with. I didn't buy a single game for the system, but I was having lots of fun. Got me through one of the worst experiences in my life which was the year I spent at Duke while my PhD advisor was on sabbatical. Fuck Duke and fuck cancer.

Then Halo 5 came out, and even though the campaign is godawful trash and they ruined the fucking story, the multiplayer is top-notch and I STILL have lots of fun with it. Great game, lots of fun. I also got The Witcher 3 with all DLC for like $10 last year, and that game was totally amazing. Same with DOOM, which was GREAT. I played a bunch of Forza which I got for free, and also just played the new Mass Effect game, which was better than I thought, but still a shadow of the glory that was Mass Effect 2. Still I got if for like $10 so who cares, and I played it all the way through and it was pretty fun.

As long as my live subscription gets me a bunch of free games and also a bunch of cheap games, I think it's totally fine. I'm not going to buy another console unless it has backward compatibility (another TOTAL WIN for my xbone) and has games i want to play, but for now my xbone is fine and i'm happy with my purchase.

THAT SAID, i wish i'd bought a PS4 instead, but oh well.
