your understanding of gentrification is wrong, just so you know. it's not literally forcing people out, it's a question of who's moving in when old residents move out. more "gentrifiers" move in. it's really not a question of people being priced out. i don't have the study or the NPR podcast link handy.

a lot of "gentrifiers" struggle to just pay rent and have very limited housing options as well. i think you're also wrong in that people can't "just move" - that's the whole thing about the US, you can pick up and move across the country to a different city and state. yes, you might have to save up a couple months rent, but it's totally doable if you try.
