Midnight shift employees of Reddit, what’s the creepiest experience you’ve had during your nighttime shift?

Maybe a more wholesome one. I used to work the nighttime shift at my university library. There was always two of us at the front desk and 15 min before closing we had to flask the lights in all of the library. There were three columns of buttons and each button was for a different section of library, grouped in rows. So if you turned the entire first column off each floor had one part that would go dark but other areas nearby would be lit up so you weren’t plunging someone into complete darkness. Aside from the bathrooms, which were controlled by just one button each... We had to turn off the first column, turn it back on, turn off the second column, etc at 15, 10, 5 and 0 min before closing and then security would do a sweep for us

One night I was working with my boyfriend at the front desk (how we met). We just did the 15 min lights and I went to the bathroom. It was after finals so we expected just about nobody to be there. Keep in mind this is an old building and can be kinda creepy, especially the bathrooms and everywhere was empty. It just felt weird in there. My asshole boyfriend turned all the lights off about one minute into peeing and I had to use my phone to get out of the bathroom. I come out of the bathroom and ALL the lights on that floor are off and this mf jumps out at me. We’re still together today but that night gave me second thoughts
