It might be time to leave the wizarding world behind...

As a trans person too, it does suck. I grew up with these books and I feel such a connection to them, and it's really hard to separate the work from the creator sometimes. It turns into a big grey area

Some extreme examples here: Lost Prophets were one of my favourite bands growing up and now they might as well have never existed after their lead singer was convicted of child rape, but Lewis Carol, a pedophile by all accounts, was fine apparently so Alice in Wonderland is now very successful for Disney. And now there's Matt Groening getting caught up in the Jeffrey Epstein case after he got a foot massage from an underage girl on Epstein's private jet. Can you imagine if the Simpsons had to suddenly vanish from the face of the planet? For some reason (money) the world allows work to carry on existing despite being made by monsters and assholes.

But that being said, so far JKR has just thrown some half hearted support towards transphobes, so it's not like she's actively protesting against trans rights, and she would face a PR nightmare if she ever took those views further. But if she ever does go further with transphobic bullshit, I'll be joining you with dropping this world for good. For now I'll live in the grey zone...
