Might be useful for some people on here. Thinking About Attention -- CGP Grey

I feel like I have to start this comment by stating that in no way do I somehow think I am better then anybody that engages in this activity, I'm a big of the internet and I think it has in an odd way brought us globally closer together.

I browse reddit regularly, I look at my facebook a couple times a week and depending on the length of the podcast it will take me between a week or a month to finish a single episode, and I hit clickbait maybe once a month.

I am not special, I am not immune from advertising tricks, I'm often tempted by clickbait, and I'm very interested in what my friends and family have been up to.

What's strange is that why I don't do those things is the reason that everybody fucking hates those things. If it's click bait I don't click it, it's a fucking lie and won't actually tell me anything, or it's not even about that thing. I don't visit social sites often, because they're a fucking lie and people are just projecting a highlight of what they wish their life is like, sometimes solely for the sake of that projection. It takes me a while to finish a podcast because 3 solid hours of me paying attention strictly to voice in my hear about something I want to know about is a hard time slot to fill, so when I can't finish one, I note how much time has passed in the podcast and I pick it up from there next time, for instance my current note is Hardcore History, Destroyer of Worlds: 3:15:00 and has been for 3 days.

I am not special, everything pisses me off for the same reason it pisses all of you off, the thing is...I don't understand why people keep doing it, while knowing better.
