Mike Pence opens an event with a Christian Rabbi that reads the name of Republican candidates on a list given to him, and claims the people in power have been put in place by Jesus.

That's literally the opposite of what I just said.

What I just tried to explain is that there is specifically a "not with us, but not against us" that is distinct from an "against us" position.

It sounded like you were assigning a positive value to being in the contrarian position when describing this, as though being passive is a bad thing... when from my position, it's the truly atheistic position to be in. Religion often rears its ugly head as a secular religion.

That's why some conversions are such a big deal? I mean, look at when a celebrity converts to Islam, often changing their name, their style, and general dramatic life changes.

When someone converts TO Judaism, particularly under orthodox or more observant forms, part of doing that is making life changes, keeping kosher, keeping Sabbath, ect.

It's a quirk of Christianity that it doesn't expect you to actually make life changes.

You say this just statistically and probably from the inside looking out... Changes ARE made when moving to a generally culturally Christian environment and assimilating., but yes.. I understand Islam and Judaism are generally more orthopraxic.... anyways... this conversation is WAY off topic... I don't think you've offered any philosophical insights into identity, but offered dogmatic binary positions of Judaism and Christianity, which I don't think reflects real life.... You think I'm too wishy-washy in my definitions and think I need to make a clear distinctions with Judaism... I generally don't care about anyone's precious religious, ethnic, racial, national identity and think we should smear them and blur the lines as much as possible...

I hope that I haven't mis-characterized you and wish you a good night.
