mildly concerned about being a loner for 3 years

In first year the people who I hung around with didn't end up being my friends. I remember hanging out with them because if i didn't I legit wouldn't speak to anyone in a day. It was the people on my course who I barely spoke to who I ended up being really close to in second year as we all bonded together over our insane workload. At least on my course, the more you progressed the smaller the classes got and you were forced to socialise and talk to these guys and at least in my case, I found so many of them to actually be really awesome.

Also, societies are good. I had to hop around a few until I found people I really got on with, so don't be put off. Go to some of the socials, I know a few of the Arts ones will have some drinks at Mullys or Phineus and it's usually the CORE group of people in the soc that go so it won't be a massive amount of people.

Tbh on saying all of this, the best friends i made in London who I still talk to post graduation were when i had to house share in second year and moved in with a bunch of strangers that just so happened to also go to UCL. Those guys were raw af. Also working alongside uni made it so I met people outside of the UCL bubble and man that was so refreshing. Not everyone can work because of workload and I only did it bc I was skint lol, but it is another good way to meet people.

TLDR, my point being is don't worry. The end of first term in halls I remember crawling under the desk in my room and crying for a few hours because I was so lonely lmfao oh man, I totally understand. But it will be okay. Speak to people on your course. Go out to the smoking area in your halls in the evening and just speak to people (smokers are mad social and tbh my only friends in halls were those I met in the smoking area). Sure, you may not have like a billion gazillion friends but over time if you make the effort you'll find some people and it'll be alright.

Also sorry this is long being painfully lonely was a thing i dealt with in first year so i just went on a babble aha.
