Millennial Men Leave Perplexing Hole in Hot U.S. Job Market

I mean, the article pretty much spells it out.

Dude has kids and chooses to live at home with his mom and fuck about with “training” in various lines of work and “hoping” it will lead to a better career option down the line rather than working to support his children.

I’m a bit older than the demographic here, but I’ve had part-time jobs since I was 13. I worked full time in the summers. I worked my way through college.

You want to know the secret?

Being covered head to toe in tattoo-party-at-Brad’s-mom’s-house grade ink, having gauged ears, and playing X-Box all day in your mom’s basement while she babysits your kids isn’t conducive to making a better life for yourself or establishing a professional career.

I was lucky. I had a lot of good mentors (men and women alike) who challenged me and looked out for me and checked my bullshit at various stages of my life.

You know what no one would ever have let me do? What this guy is doing. I would have been put out on my ass and told to quit being a loser.

You know what I would never have done anyway? What this guy is doing. Because I learned very early on that the bar is actually quite low. If you show up with a half-assed decent attitude, put in 3% more effort than those around you, and form basic relationships with your bosses and co-workers, it’s amazing how things start happening for you.

But Jesus. You have to show up. And you have to try.

I hate all of the knocking of “millennials” and “Gen Z,” but sometimes they make it difficult.

You’re a 25 year old grown ass man with children to support. Unemployment is at an all-time low. If you can’t figure out how to find a job right now I don’t know what the hell to tell you...
