When I was in college, I wrote a paper about the Institutional Knowledge Gap of 2025.

Synopsis: Baby Boomers will mostly retire. Gen X'ers fill key roles. The fat will be trimmed. Freelancing will receive a massive boost. Millennials and Gen X'ers that never learned how to have a side hustle will suddenly be upset about job opportunities. All the while, the generations did not communicate effectively resulting in an institutional knowledge gap. It will create market and economic inefficiencies and cause additional strife among generations. This problem will swell and hit a peak in the year 2031.

My point: Older generations need to nurture younger. No, they do not always want to listen. But when you take the time to listen and speak their language, you will connect from time-to-time. Take advantage of those moments to lift them up so that one day they are prepared to handle the groundwork we all collectively laid.
