Millennials of Reddit, what are your thoughts on having children?

Me and my bf joke about it a lot, but seriously thinking about it i dont know what it would be like to raise a kid not only as a gay couple but also with one of us being trans as well. And depending on how my near future goes, both hopefully a military couple since hes already in, just different branches. Idk how that would work out until we got married, and if by the time we were stable enough w our lives that we would be young enough to be good parents and not be 55 years old when our kids just barely a teenager.

On top of that, thats only me just figuring that at some point were gonna want kids. Because i dont right now. I freak the fuck out to myself every time we have sex because "what if my IUD fails" and living in the state i do, with the family i have, abortion is not a likely option nor an affordable one. Shit my family doesnt even believe in ending ectopix pregnancies because of "gods will" and ectopic pregnancies KILL YOU or something. :-/ id be dead to them and theyve threatened to kill my cat before so.

On top of that, If we ever did want and have kids Either adoption or IVF surrogacy would be the only way to go. I think kids who could share in our actual heritage would be nice, but i dont like the idea of passing on the genes my family carries, like my gmas epilepsy and my entire paternal sides hhhoooorrrriibbbllleeee vision including my own. I dont think "hey your great great great etc etc grandpas were confederate soldiers, wanna see the family grave yard where theyre burried?????" Is worth potentially being legally blind and epileptic :-/
