Millionaire Basement Wars (2015) - The extremely wealthy are creating mega-basements, multi-level subterranean structures, decadent beyond the imagination. BBC Documentary.

I watched it guys, so you don't have to;

Fuck those people, not those people one one side or another, just fuck nearly everybody represented here in this documentary:

a.) Fuck the shell of a human so divorced from reality that she honestly tries to explain that it's not a basement because it's too nice to be a basement. (That's the real problem with New Money though, they still carry themselves in earnest; Old Money would still explain to you why it's not a basement but they do it with a hint of a grin and a lightness to their words as though they're in on the joke)

b.) Fuck the slimy developers who aren't even digging these things this to meet any real resident's specific need for additional space but rather just feeding square footage fodder into the foreign property investment machine. It's not actually about the dwelling anymore, the dwelling is just the one of the underpinnings of the financial asset itself and basement's real purpose is to pump up the square footage on paper to inflate the asset. But hey, the non-dom owners will probably think it's neat-o when they visit the house.

c.) Fuck those insufferable NIMBYs, they all get the exact same fucking look in their eyes like NIMBY refugees seeking asylum from their NIMBY atrocities; Trucks on their road, backing down their streets, 10 ton middle fingers of diesel and steel just driving on their road ever eager to symbolically fling shit on their doorsteps.

I think the world needs a follow up to stroke-awareness: "Don't gamble with your loved one's mind, know the signs and if you see something, say something, immediate treatment with a stern shut the fuck up just might save their life". Symptoms include discussions of commercial flight paths, noise ordinances, possession of documents related to local planning authorities, describing low level noise intrusions as torture, loss of sleep, aggressively photographing people or construction zones, woe is me, and in advance cases letter-writing.

But that's central London for you, when there's enough money to buy any solution then the problem becomes deciding the problems are, but it's turtles all the way down.

P.S. Special mention and exemption to two parties not deserving of fucking: d.) "Progress it's called; [It] pays my bills" Lorry driver and e.) The owners of the house with buckled foundations and nobody left to sue thanks to vaporizing offshore investment entities.
