I really appreciate your efforts with the old forgetting man. However, I don’t think it’s appropriate to hold anyone to any standards outside of them paying you for the work you are contracted to do. Is people offering you refreshments and going out of their way to give you extras nice? sure. But is it okay to say some people are worse because they can afford it and don’t? Not at all.

People who have a substantially larger amount of money more than most don’t operate thinking they do, nor did they get it by handing it out at every chance they got. People are people and will go out of their way (or not) depending on their character. Nothing more. Hence why some super rich, who apparently don’t assume they’re rich, will be as kind as the poor old man trying to give a huge token of appreciation.

You are contracted to do a job. Do that job and be paid. If you go above and beyond for them...that’s on you and you risk being subjected to the type of person they are...rich or otherwise.
