I was in college in 1980 when the mini series was released. We lived in a 40 year old completely worn out house that had a huge front room.

I had a roommate that had a large screen projection TV he won in some lottery drawing. (They were very expensive back then, with relatively shitty picture quality)

We invited around 20 people over for each Shogun episode (always keeping a 2-1 girl to boy ratio). With only two couches and a chair for furniture , we moved our two mattresses to the floor for additional “seating”. Blankets and pillow were added in other areas

Filling the room for Shogun was easy.

We asked that guys bring a six pack of beer if possible. We also bought a case or two of the cheapest stuff.
