This ‘Mini’ evolution I saw in London

Except it's not. It's actually surprisingly fun to drive, and I say that as someone who was the second owner of a Smart ForTwo Cabrio from 2010 to late 2019. It was my daily driver and also used for many long out-of-state road trips.

I'm 6'1" tall and had plenty of headroom to spare. Gas mileage, while not as good as it should be given the size, was pretty decent. The much-maligned gearbox is easy to deal with by simply using the flappy paddles and knowing how to drive, and I was invariably the fastest car away from traffic lights.

As a single dad with one vehicle, I was able to use it for all my shopping with no issue, so there was sufficient room -- and I don't shop regularly, I tend to do one gigantic monthly shop, and barely eat out at all. And the number of people who I gave lifts in it and who commented on how fun and comfortable it was bear me out.

Really, its only true weaknesses are that it's a bit narrow which rules out gigantic 400lb Americans, and it has very limited suspension travel which makes potholes unpleasant. (But again, unless you live somewhere with ridiculously bad roads, a good driver easily avoids 90% of these.)
