Is mirrorless overhyped? Who have made the jump and wish they didn't? Who have made the jump and won't look back?

There is always a certain amount of uncertainty involved in a DSLR because what you see in the viewfinder is not what you get

Explain what you mean.

Do you mean that you can not see DOF for instance? Personally, I do not need to, even at f/1.2, I can see the razor thin DOF plane while focusing manually.

What I need from the viewfinder, is a duplicate of what I physically will see in the RAW file. Even with AF I can see if it is in or out of focus quite well. I also shoot a lot at as close a focal distance as I can in many situations which leaves a very narrow DOF in general. Even at 500mm I have no problems nailing focus, constantly. I honestly do not see what the problem is - how can you not get sharp images without chimping? Besides, doing so in bright sunlight which I mostly shoot in, makes the rear screen useless.

I don't know what it is but all the focus peeking and chimping seems to me to be a useless activity that doesn't add anything to my images. Most of the time, I just flick the camera up to my eyes, position the focal point and focus and shoot and end up with results like this bird and like this bird. Chmiping would just have ended up with me not getting the shots as the birds disappeared real quickly.

Maybe it is just the what we shoot that makes the difference?
