MISERY without the misery?

Few things that can counter your "annoying" problems.

  1. There is an actual tweak for this problem of "enemies shooting from half a kilometer." Try 250m, 100 less than intended, you will be in less ambushes but the enemy will still react to you shooting them.

Although it is fun seeing a Bandit trying to snipe you with a DB Shotgun.

  1. Keep moving. Its obvious if someone is behind cover that you would use something to get him out of there. Its simple tactics, even we use grenades to clear out rooms when you know enemies could be hiding behind the door.

  1. Bread is the worst food item out there. You can cook mutant meat and get twice the nutrition and the amount of bandits/mercs you kill should provide enough cigarettes for you to smoke the radiation off.

Also, think of this, how rare is it to get a fresh loaf of bread in the Zone that is NOT radiated. Ever see any wheat or flour around?

  1. Artifact hunting has been toned down compared to the earlier game because its something you need to be prepared for. Its literally FREE money. If you can somehow get a Eye that sells for 12k in the first few SECONDS you're near Boiler, then why change the economy? Also, the stats make you think, would I rather try to balance the artifacts out or get a weakness. I mean, in SoC with AA2, I was able to equip 11 artifacts and not become a blob of goo from how its changing my body. I never, ever need a Bandage in that game.

  1. Repair kits, its cheaper, you can find it out in the wilds, AND, buying in bulk is actually better in the long run. Thermal anomalies HURT your suit. You can tone it down with a simple code change but overall, you have to be fast with artifacts. You can't just sit in a fire and expect to not get hurt, you can't stand in acid to then come out looking fine. You will be hurt.

5.Semi-Auto. Simple. Any other fire mode wastes money. You know that burst fire? Yeah, the recoil causes you to waste a bullet and bullets, cost, money. Change your caliber. There is a reason why there are ammunition called "Armor-Piercing" and "Hollow-Point". Regular ammo will deal equal damage for all sides and those 2 will do extra to the respective entities.

  1. Minimaps. Why am I not surprised. Game nowadays hold your hand like a kid, telling you where to go and how to do it. Remember the landscape, check your PDA in a safe location and just occasionally pull it out to see if you are running in the right direction. You can still move with the PDA out.

Other than that, I can't help you more. Les Miserables is a good MISERY tweak mod that changes a ton of stuff. Trader prices are cheaper, weight reduced and mutants are easier.
