Misleading pricing for Eververse items I.e. items on “sale”

Everyone is jumping to this being the same as the fallout 76 scandal when it's simply not the case. Fallout 76 had an item marked as on sale for an indeterminate amount of time and had its sale tag removed without the price being changed. This was misleading marketing because they lied about what the typical price would be and how long it'd be available at the "sale price". The linked ACCC page about displaying prices is pretty detailed about this and should not be skimmed because the wording is very important. The stricken out price, in our case that would be 2000 silver, would be misleading if bungie claimed that the fortnite set "was 2000 silver and is now on sale," but that isn't the case. It would be misleading if there wasn't a set time period for the sale, but there is. It would be misleading if the sale ended and the price remained at 1500 silver, but bungie would be shooting themselves in the foot to do that.

I'm seeing some people mention that the product must be sold for MSRP before being subject to a sale, this is not the case. While this gives the opportunity for someone to lie and misrepresent the sale, it doesn't constitute misrepresentation itself.

TL;DR Is bungie raising prices on this set and putting it on sale immediately strange and potentially anti-consumer? Sure, why not. Is it illegal? Not by these specific Australian laws.
