Is misophonia genetic?

Tough to say. I'm the youngest of 4, the oldest being 9 years older than me. I triggered the first out of all of us at like 5. I'm still not sure if I "infected" them or something environmentally. But mine for damn sure didn't come from the environment. Just happened. They all started having reactions later chronologically of course... but also much later in that they were teens or early twenties.

My closest brother (3 years older) has said that when I lived with him, I was pretty chill, but my shit seemed to exacerbate his and it's been better for him since we stopped living together. He's not mad about it and we love each other very much. But clearly, some environmental factors made our continual presence around each other a bit of a burden in some ways. (Like I say we were super close and living together was still a net positive).

So yeah. My family all seems to "have it." But I was the youngest and it STILL happened to me first. Not sure if that clears anything up or just makes it more confusing.
