I so miss my old Windows Phones...

I'm having the same discussion/argument with my wife - she doesn't understand how it can take me so long to find a new phone to replace what I've got. I've been on the hunt for a replacement phone for the last 8 months now as my 950XL's battery and the OS is on its last legs. I've bought two phones, returning one and giving the other to my wife.

I really don't know what it is, but when i was trying the android phones out for the first time in something like 6-7 years, something just didn't feel right about the Android OS and its hard to put my finger on what it was. I bought the Honor Play as it seemed like a decent enough phone and relatively cheap (£250) but as soon as IO got it out of the box, I knew instantly it wasn't right for me, because the body of the phone was too narrow and when it came to playing media on the screen, the actual watchable space (with side bars) was less than the 5.7 inch display of my 950XL. Then i went all out and spent £500 on a Razer Phone 2 because it had a 16:9 1440p display. That one went back for a refund despite being a fantastic phone, their were a few things i didn't like about it, and reading up on the RP2 forum on reddit and seeing issues people were experiencing with theirs didn't feel me with joy. Don't get me wrong, the RP2 was nice, the screen is vibrant, the speakers excellent, however the side mounted finger print reader was odd to say the least, having to press the power button in to get it to operate and the sharp corners dug into the hand as i attempted to use it. Very brick like i think.

And now here I am, 8 months on and still no replacement phone. The OH is getting REALLY annoyed with me because I've been looking for a long while now and can't make a decision - her annoyance is more to do with the fact that as we live in a house that has very poor indoor reception, any calls we need to make on our mobiles have to be be routed through the wifi calling ability, but as my phone cannot do wifi calling (outside of Whatsapp), I have to use hers a lot of the time or go and stand outside!. If it were up to her, I would've just kept the Razer Phone 2 and made do, but I don't want to get back into the cycle that i was in before I bought my first Windows Phone (Samsung ATIV S which I had for 2.5 years) which was buying a new phone every few months (and selling the old one to cover the cost)

So, I have narrowed the list down to two options which the wife is pestering me to make a decision and order something (if i hadn't been so difficult to make a decision, Amazon had the Samsung Note 9 128GB on offer a few months ago at under £500 which I was going to go for, but missed out because i left it til last minute and fell asleep, missing the cut off point.) The two options I'm looking at are the Samsung Galaxy S9+ 256GB for £500 and the LG V40 128Gb for £449 (this one is in the Amazon deals this week) and I don't know which to go for!!!! Whatever I buy has to have a micro SD card slot.

What would you choose?
