I missed the deadline to apply

I left Montréal when I was 13, lived in Alberta for the last 7 years. I just finished my first year of finance at U ofCalgary. I found out that if you’re Quebecois that schooling is a lot cheaper. So I was thinking of moving back to Montreal but I missed all the deadlines at McGill and Concordia . I saw that there is something called “independent student” and was wondering if it was worth it ?

Can anyone tell me more about what “independent student” is and your experience in it ?

-I assuming it’s like the open studies program we have at UofC where u can take random courses (maxed at 3 or4 courses per term) and then apply to a program. But I’m not too sure

Thanks.
