It is honestly fun talking in accents, though. lol. I once did a play where I portrayed five different characters, each with their own accent:
The best part about playing the General is that one of my other characters was a detective, wearing a suit.
That show was the one where I finally lost any cares about modesty. Because all six of us were portraying 4-6 characters each, most of the length of the scene changes was the time it took one or more of us to change clothes for our next character. We all had to carefully set up costumes in the right order to run offstage, change as quickly as possible, and get onstage for the next scene. No time to give any fucks about anyone seeing anything. lol.
So one of the scenes I was a General, followed by a scene I was the detective, wearing a suit. So for the General I wore military pants, undershirt, dress shirt, and tie, and then the military jacket over that - because that was the scene change where everyone was waiting on just me. So I'd run offstand, rip off the mlitary pieces, get the suit jacket and pants and shoes on, and rush back out on stage. lol.
Most of the scene changes were like that - waiting on one or two to make a change.
One of my favorite was my wife, who was also cast, who among her other characters portrayed the mother of one of the other characters, as well as my (Russian guy) wife. She had one change where she walked offstage talking to her daughter, and while she finished up talking (walking out of the room to another room as far as the play was concerned) she was walking behind the stage, losing most of her mother-character clothing and putting on a nightgown. She got to the other side of the stage, which was dark, where I had been sitting in the dark on a bed. Daughter finished up replying to her mother, a short pause while my wife (literally and character) got into the bed, and then our scene started. lol.
Was such a fun play to do. Many shenanigans. Much fun. :)
