Mod drama in /r/speedrun when the head mod is accused of manipulating the subreddit, while others are accused of being disloyal

Here is a brief history of how this drama came to be.

In its earlier days (and now still to a lesser extent) /r/speedrun was seen as a joke in the speedrun community mostly because of the community's bias towards more popular runners. For example, a wr/pb from someone like Cosmo or Puncayshun would usually get over 100 upvotes while wrs from lesser known runners with equally if not better times would be not get anywhere near this amount of attention.

Because of this, a lot of speedrunners would "shit post" here. A runner named Yashichidsf would often do this and was eventually banned. This was the beginning of the mod uncertainty on /r/speedrun as speedrunners were now actually being banned from the subreddit.

Along comes a runner named whitegoose, he is genuinely good speedrunner and holds some of the best times in goldeneyes 64. Goose would point out some of the the problems of the subreddit, but due to his style of commenting he was usually downvoted: https://np.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/2cv3f8/wr_surface_1_148_by_rwhitegoose/cjjdh77 . Eventually goose encouraged a few people from the elite community to troll the subreddit and was banned shortly after. Sometime later he made another account truereligion and posted similar comments.

A few months ago, truereligion decided to organize a speedrunning event called speedruns for trump: https://np.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/3ycocq/its_time_to_make_speedrunning_great_again/.

His post was quickly removed by the mods: . After persisting he was banned by the head mod Alt-F-X :

After his ban, Truereligion and Cyberdemon (another speedrunner who frequented the subreddit) together created a video where they talked about Alt-f-x being a corrupt mod and how he admitted to not really being involved in the speedrunning community despite being the head mod and founder of /r/speedrun.

This video didn't seem to change much until a little while later, someone found alt-f-x\s password on a public database dump, and deleted his account.

With the Alt-f-x gone, the head mod became dembears. Dembears admitted his frustration with the way Alt-f-x dealt with moderating the subreddit and decided to make permanent changes with the assumption he was gone for good. 3 new moderators were added and things seemed to be going well for a few days.

Today, Alt-f-x was restored as the head moderator by the reddit admins causing distress on /r/speedrun because many prefer the changes dembears had proposed. Most of the other moderators preferred dembears over alt-f-x and sided with dembears. Alt-f-x has not actually reversed any of the changes dembears had implemented but has not stepped down as head mod like he asked.
