[MOD] Official Introduction Thread for Round 17

Hello! New guy here, and boy am I excited to be here! While some people put on their freshman 15, I started university already obese, but slowly losing. During my second year, after coming back from 3~months of summer break when I lost about 15kg (33lb~) people were gasping and congratulating me on my progress. I won’t lie, that felt REALLY good. Then, however, I felt like I was too skinny and so I started lifting. That was two and a half years ago.

The first year I didn’t know what I was doing. I figured if I could lose all that weight on my own I could just go to the gym and do that too on my own. That was wrong. It is only the last year and a half that I have been following a program and have seen the results. While the lifting was going well, the diet part of it was not. I was the chairperson of the second largest student body organisation at my university, and that meant that I went to a LOT of parties. Twice, thee times a week? No problem. I never got a hangover anyway. The problem was more that alcohol obviously meant that I went through way too many calories, both in drink and the pizza the day after. Talk about a dirty bulk. Last month was the final one before stepping down from my position, and I have been thinking a lot about where my life is going now. I feel like I’ve gotten rid of the wild party animal in me and while it was a blast, now I’m ready to start focusing on different aspects. Fitness being the main priority here. This past month I’ve been stepping it up. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about what I’m eating, or watching a youtube video on fitness and correct form while lifting.

My main challenge and concern this summer is going to be the lack of a routine, as I work odd shifts at a supermarket. The second concern will be eating at home. I’ll be staying with my mom and my two younger siblings so I will try to do as much of the cooking for the sit-down meals with the family as possible.

While I’m about 5kg (11lb~) heavier than I’d like to be, atleast I have been lifting consistently over the past year or so. Was it ideal to lift the day after a night out? No. Am I glad I atleast did something? Heck yeah.

The reason I told you all that is that the past 2 or so years have been amazing for me, and I think that this summer I will be in the best shape off my life if I get my shit together. How exciting!

Stats

* 25M
* 5'11", 80kg or 176 pounds.
* Diet: Aiming for 1g protein per 1lb bodyweight currently.
* Exercise: Mainly lifting 6x a week, doing a PPL Routine. Running about 2 a week, or basically whenever I feel like it.

Overall Round 17 goals

  * Learn, learn and learn! Learn lots about lifting and fitness in general. There’s a huge amount of information available out there. * Stay consistent with my lifting and weight-loss goal, even when my usual routine gets thrown off balance. * Lose about 6-9kg~ (13-20lb~) while maintaining and hopefully even gainig a little bit of muscle * Reduce alcohol intake dramatically, from weekly to 1 times a month / on special occasions tops.

Sprint 1

* Keep a detailed list of all the calories I put in my mouth
* Find some new recipes that I can cook for the entire family that still align with my own goals.
* Create a kick-ass playlist both for running and lifting :)

This actually looks good to me. I hope and think I was able to identify what pitfalls there may be, and I was able to come up with a strategy to handle those hard times. What I've found is that whenever I have my fitness under control, the rest of my life also seems to fall into place. Looking forward to be talking to you all, and to hold you accountable for your promises here. And I hope you return the favor!
