MODs and Steam

This is completely greasy.

You can argue Bethesda made the game so they should get a cut, you can argue Valve is distributing it and that's why they are getting paid... Well Guess what? They are already getting paid for these mods and valve for distributing. Every game on steam needs to pay valve for distributing their game on it, and on top of that (I think) additional for the steam workshop as is...

A mod is just that.. A mod by a player not associated with Bethesda, making updates, improvements, and additional content to their game. Bethesda has nothing to do with those mods. You can argue "oh but bethesda made the game the mod requires!" Good for them, but for anyone with any morals and intelligence (Sorry very upset here), they will know that Bethesda has ALREADY been paid for what they legitimately did.. Which is the game itself.

Bethesda for time in for Skyrim. They made Skyrim.. Not the mod. They didn't put any time, money or effort into the mod itself. Yet they are taking money from it.

Let's put this into perspective. You decide to buy a house, fix it up and sell it. You build with your own time, money and resources an addition to the house. You then decide to sell it.

Is it alright for the person who sold you the house to come out of nowhere and ask for additional payments for your addition because "without their original work you wouldn't of had a house to build the addition onto"? Of course not. It's as ridiculous as it sounds.

Bethesda put time and money into the game itself, That's what they should get paid for, and that's what they do get paid for when you buy Skyrim.

So how in the heck does Bethesda have any right to take any money from the modders?

If Bethesda releases a piss poor UI, or piss poor animation, and a modder fixes it and monetizes it. Now Bethesda gets a huge cut for literally releasing broken content??

What

The

F?!?!

You cannot in anyway intelligently defend this greasy, money grabbing system.

Double dipping into other peoples hard work for something you literally did NOTHING to help with.

You can even argue "oh but they are using the code of the game, blah blah blah" yea, they are, the code of Skyrims stock game which was ALREADY PAID FOR by both the modder, and person playing the STOCK skyrim game. Why pay them a SECOND time??
