whats crazy and part of the reason i take all critical ratings with a grain of salt. is they just dont a get lot of stuff, especially if something is like ahead of its time, they dont know what to make of it because it doesnt fit their preconceived notion of whats good. but thats not how innovation in art works

not that Pinkerton was like way out there. but apparently they dropped the ball hard with that one, then later after seeing the impact it had changed their minds lolxD. its one of the many albums that are legendary now but at the time they were trashing it, so much that Rivers fell into a deep depression and wanted to stop making music, smh
