Why does the match making for normals (new players and returning veterans) suck so much?

I am doing good and then I get punished for doing good. I've been winning for a while. I play to have fun and win. Today I thought I would play some League of Legends after work. First I was greeted by a 15 minute queue timer!!!!! Once in-game, it was basically lost and waste of time after first 5 minutes. All lanes dead multiple times, someone DC'ed. Post this game I thought, alright... Just some bad luck. F*ck me, it was not just some bad luck. Next 6 games same bullsh*t over and over again. Essentially entire evening ruined by one game and one shitty match making algorithm.

Also some games are absolute stomps that it isn't even funny, albeit in many of those games my team has severely better teamwork than enemies.
